Who We Are
Penta Minds is a research institution being built to advance understanding of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies through independent research, evidence-based inquiry, responsible innovation, and accessible knowledge.
We study Artificial Intelligence not only as a technology, but as a force shaping education, institutions, society, and the ways people learn, work, create, and make decisions. Our work spans research, literacy, education, responsibility, governance, and emerging technologies, and the broader social and institutional questions surrounding their development and adoption.
Penta Minds is being developed for continuity beyond individual projects, programmes, or cohorts. Through research programmes, field studies, publications, datasets, educational resources, experiments, and collaborations, we aim to create a sustained body of knowledge while providing students and emerging researchers with the environment, standards, and institutional foundations to conduct meaningful research.
Our long-term goal is to build an institution where research comes first, students are empowered to become researchers, knowledge remains accessible, and responsible approaches to technologies can be studied, tested, communicated, and translated into practice.
At the centre of this effort is the Penta Minds Research Council (PMRC) , which provides the research, governance, and strategic framework for the organisation.
The Council is intended to safeguard research integrity, guide priorities, preserve institutional knowledge, support emerging researchers, and build the foundations required for Penta Minds to grow into a credible and independent research institution.

AI as the Hidden Curriculum
How Learning is Happening Through AI Without Being Taught
AI as the Hidden Curriculum is the core research inquiry examining how students in Indian higher education are learning to use AI tools informally — outside any structured curriculum or institutional guidance. The central question: what does it mean when an entire generation of students is developing AI competency through trial, error, and peer observation, without the institution acknowledging it? This project generates the primary evidence base for the AI Grand Challenge submission.
Research Approach
Penta Minds follows a continuous cycle: Learn → Question → Research → Experiment → Build → Publish → Share → Collaborate → Scale. A student should not stop at “I learned AI”; the journey becomes “I learned it → questioned it → investigated it → tested it → built something → documented it → shared it → improved it.”
